Dragons Afloat Port Lincoln is honouring and remembering those touched by breast cancer.
Join the Dragons Afloat ladies on Friday 24 October at 9.30am and ‘Walk in Pink’ from the foreshore lawns near Port Lincoln Yacht Club to the Port Lincoln Hotel.
A Pink Ribbon Day is being held by the Port Lincoln Hotel in Bayside from 10am, fundraising for local breast care nurses and Dragons Afloat Port Lincoln.
There will be coffee and cake specials, pink cupcakes and a raffle fundraiser.
A mini field of pink women will be displayed in Eyre Park as a tribute to all affected by breast cancer in the local community.
Every day in Australia, 58 people are diagnosed with breast cancer.
It is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women, with more than 21,000 new cases expected in 2025, while on average nine Australians die from breast cancer every single day.
Dragon boating is good exercise for people who have had breast cancer, especially those who have had lymph nodes removed.
Dragons Afloat Port Lincoln paddles every Sunday at 9am from the marina boat ramp and on a Wednesday night at 6pm during daylight saving months.
Anyone over the age of 12 is welcome to paddle, and can have four free tries before deciding to join.
After the morning paddle, members gather at the nearby Marina Hotel for a morning coffee and social catch-up.
The club also has a walking group.
Dragons Afloat Port Lincoln is a proud supporter of Breast Cancer Network Australia, the local McGrath breast care nurse, and of the International Breast Cancer Paddling Commission.
