To celebrate National Volunteer Week people from various community groups came together on Tuesday at Nautilus Arts Centre where they enjoyed a morning tea and chance to chat.

National Volunteer Week is the largest celebration in Australia for those who offer their time to help others, with the theme in 2025 being ‘Connecting communities’.

Port Lincoln mayor Diana Mislov said the theme had been a constant component of life in in the city.

“Volunteers are the heart and soul of our community and they’re the reason so many of the local organisations, projects and events thrive,” she said.

“Here in Port Lincoln, volunteering is a powerful expression of community pride.

“People give their time and energy not for recognition, but because they care deeply about the place, we all call home.”

Along with celebrating the contributions of volunteers Ms Mislov said National Volunteer Week also offered people the chance to consider how they could get involved with a group.

The morning tea was a great way for volunteers from a range of groups to come together and be recognised for the essential services they provide to the Port Lincoln community, Ms Mislov said.

“All the volunteers time is really valued and it’s a privilege to be able to say thank you on behalf of the city for the great work that all of them are doing.”
