A free business seminar is coming to Port Lincoln, hosted by the South Australian Business Chamber.
The half-day session called ‘Know your business – Essentials and strategies for growth’ and sponsored by Regional Development Australia Eyre Peninsula, will be held at the Port Lincoln Hotel on Thursday, March 13 from 8.30am to noon.
Chamber chief executive Andrew Kay said the event was designed to offer practical information that addressed pain points raised by regional members, while also bringing the business community together for a morning of connection and learning.
The seminar will include an industrial relations update following the federal government’s reforms to industrial relations laws.
“Our senior consultant Lucinda Reu will explain how these changes have impacted employers, share lessons learned and most importantly, give you the means to help keep your business compliant,” Mr Kay said.
World-renowned workplace psychologist David Burroughs will present strategies to protect your mental health and wellbeing, Mr Kay said.
Mr Burroughs will share strategies for creating and implementing effective mental health initiatives in the workplace.
A session on overcoming skills and labour shortages would follow as “finding and retaining staff is impacting businesses right across our regional centres”, Mr Kay said.
“Sonya Paterson of the Department of State Development will share how accessing global talent can fill gaps in your workforce, strengthen your business, and drive growth.
“Learn the benefits of hiring skilled migrants, the common challenges and strategies for integrating this talent into your organisation.”
Strategies to grow and adapt your business will be presented by Jim Pinkney, from Bluejam, explaining the difference between strategy and planning to position your business for future success.
“This is your chance to network with other local businesses, gain insights that you can put into action, and walk away with new ideas to strengthen your operations,” Mr Kay said.
