Fashion inspired by region

Growing up on Eyre Peninsula has inspired a recent fashion collection by Cassie Paynter.

As part of her graduation from the Advanced Diploma of Fashion Design and Merchandising at TafeSA, Port Lincoln-born Ms Paynter showcased the skills she had learnt with a three-piece collection of dresses.

“The whole collection was inspired by the Eyre Peninsula,” she said.

“Being in Adelaide I definitely miss the EP and the beautiful beaches.”

Now that Ms Paynter has completed her advanced diploma, she will continue her studies with a Bachelor of Creative Arts specialising in fashion, next year.

“I’m just playing my career as I go but I’m gravitating toward special occasion wear and bridal in the future,” she said.

“My mum, dad and my brother are still in Port lincoln so I still come back when I can for birthdays and special occasions.

“I just remember when I was little I was always drawing pictures of clothes – mum and my high school design teacher pushed me to pursue it, I don’t think I would have done it without their encouragement.”

Ms Paynter said some of the landmarks that inspired her designs include Venus Bay, Mount Hope and Talia Caves.
