New children’s book launched

Children’s book ‘Pea Goes To Sea’ was launched on the weekend at Jumpship Brewing.

Author and teacher Lucy Tarin, as well as her mother Robyn Kilgour who illustrated the book, were excited to launch the sweet tale about a pea who goes on a much needed adventure.

“It was actually a bucket list thing to write this book, I thought, ‘What do I want to do in this crazy life?’,” she said.

“I thought, ‘Can I write a children’s novel’, so I did and mum drew the pictures.

“I knew I wanted to write about the sea and for it to rhyme and for it to be a children’s book. It is aimed at one to five-year-olds.”

Ms Tarin has two sons, Rafael, three, and Archer, five.

The publishing process was made easier for Ms Tarin with the help of Eyre Writers Group member Mary Gudzenovs.

“We actually approached her and she helped me learn how to use Adobe InDesign and IngramSpark, which is a self-publishing and printing tool,” Ms Tarin said.

Ms Tarin also wanted to thank Felicity at Pulp and Willow for her assistance.

The book will be available to hire at Port Lincoln Library and is for sale on Amazon.com.au, Booktopia and Barnes and Noble.

Hard copies can be purchased through Ms Tarin on her instagram page @seaside_scribbles_. Ms Tarin said the book would also soon be available to purchase locally, including on the Eyre Writers table.

An exciting sequel to Pea Goes To Sea is due in 2024, which will see Pea go to Paree.
