Children’s Charity Variety is set to benefit from the Small Change Appeal launched last week at Woolworths in Port Lincoln, helping to provide vital services for children who are living with a disability, chronic illness or financial hardship.

Throughout October, Port Lincoln customers shopping at Woolworths will have the option to round up their shop at self-checkouts or purchase a $2 appeal token at serviced checkouts.

All funds will be donated to Variety to help bolster its grant programs.

Woolworths said it had proudly partnered with Variety since 2016, hosting a number of fundraisers in stores and online to support its services.

The small change donations from customers across the state have amounted to $2.1 million in funds for the charity to date.

Woolworths state director for South Australia Karl Weber said it was extremely grateful to customers in Port Lincoln for their generosity.

“We continue to see strong momentum for the Small Change Appeal from the local community each year, which has delivered a huge impact to the children that Variety supports,” he said.

The appeal has provided funds for Variety to support several of its grants programs, including the Variety SA Sunshine Coaches initiative which provides transport for children to access their community and experience a range of special programs and activities they would otherwise be unable to attend.

Variety SA chief executive officer Mark McGill said the generous donations received during the Small Change Appeal played a crucial role in bolstering the grants programs, aimed at aiding children across South Australia who were sick, disadvantaged, or living with disabilities.
