The South Australian Country Women’s Association (SACWA) Port Lincoln branch enjoyed lunch at the Grand Tasman Hotel on December 8 for its final event of the year.
A busy year commenced in March with the branch hosting a Table Day – three or more SACWA branches present a display of their handicraft, floral arrangements and baked items learnt throughout the year for judging.
The branch celebrated its 90th birthday anniversary with a lunch at the Port Lincoln Bowling Club in August.
It was attended by SACWA members from across the state and the special guest, SACWA state president Ila Neighbour, cut the birthday cake.
In November, the Port Lincoln branch hosted ‘International Day’, a group function where Port Neill, Tumby Bay, Ungarra and Port Lincoln members gathered together for a day of information about the country of study – Papua New Guinea – good food, fun and fundraising for Rural Women in Action.
Some SACWA members performed a ‘hula hoop relay, enjoyed by all with a repeat performance requested.
Thanks go to SACWA members of Eyre Peninsula and members of the community for their work and support in making this special year such a great success.
