Bedford Port Lincoln opened its doors last week for the community to visit the facilities and discover the opportunities and experiences the organisation provides.
The open day, held on Thursday, November 30, was the first of its kind for Bedford and it enabled those who attended to participate in fun activities such as decorating an orange christmas tree, planting seedlings and building shelves at the premises.
Bedford general manager Stefanie Veitch was present on the day and said its purpose was to provide more information to the community about the support it delivered.
“I think Bedford is well known in the community, but maybe the detail isn’t,” she said.
“We want to really be meaningful in the supports we deliver in people’s lives.
“We currently have vacancies at the moment for people living with a disability who either want to have a job or participate in social and recreational activities, or maybe they want greater independence to get out in the community with support.”
Ms Veitch said if community members are interested, they are welcome to visit the office and have a look to see what more the organisation can offer in terms of day options, experiences and supported employment.
The employment options on display for the day were the workshed, where workers make fishing gear, the gardening services team and the cleaning team.
